The Ease Cushion® is a seating system comprised of foam base, air cells, smart electronics/air-pump.
It is registered with the FDA as a Class II medical device for the prevention and treatment of decubitus ulcers/pressure sores. It uses Horizontal Alternating Pressure Technology(HAPT®) to provide a constantly changing pressure to the skin, which can help to promote healing and reduce the risk of pressure ulcers forming in the first place. While the cushion may look similar to a massage cushion or a static cushion, there are several key differences between them.
Massage Cushion vs Ease Cushion
A massage cushion is designed to provide a vibrating or massaging effect to the user's back or other areas of the body. The goal of a massage cushion is to relieve tension and promote relaxation. While a massage cushion can be helpful for relieving muscle pain or tension, it does not provide the constantly changing pressure that is needed to prevent pressure ulcers.
The Ease Cushion, on the other hand, uses alternating pressure technology to provide a wave-like motion that redistributes pressure that can help to prevent skin breakdown. This helps to increase blood flow and reduce the risk of pressure ulcers forming. The Ease Cushion is not designed to provide deep tissue massage or muscle relief, but rather to help prevent pressure ulcers and promote healing.
In short, massage relieves muscle pain due to over-activity. Whereas, alternating pressure helps with inactivity or lack of movement that may lead to skin breakdown and eventually pressure sores/decubitus ulcers.

Static Cushion vs Ease Cushion
A static cushion is a cushion that is designed to provide a consistent level of support to the user's body. This can be helpful for providing relief to individuals who have difficulty sitting for extended periods of time. However, a static cushion does not provide the constantly changing pressure that is needed to prevent pressure ulcers.
The Ease Cushion, on the other hand, uses alternating pressure technology to provide a constantly changing pressure to the patient's skin. This helps to prevent pressure ulcers from forming in the first place, and can also be helpful for treating existing pressure ulcers.
